Golf VX Simulators vs. The Others: Add-ons (3/5)

Selecting the right in-home golf simulator can be a daunting task.

Parts one and two of this comparison series examined how the Golf VX T2 Simulator measures up against top industry options in terms of software and technology. Now, in part three, we focus on additional components, which can be just as crucial to your simulator experience as the base package.

We’ve gathered all the essential information on add-ons into one article to help you see how the Golf VX compares. Let’s jump in!

Hitting Surface

  • Golf VX: Features a versatile 3-way hitting surface with specialty rough and sand options, providing a realistic experience when hitting from different lies on the course, and in the software.
  • Other Systems: Predominantly use single-surface synthetic turf, while some offer additional trouble mats you can place below a ball to change the lie. GolfZon notably offers a 5-way hitting mat though it can be overwhelming and does not provide as realistic of an impact experience.

Swing Plate

  • Golf VX: Offers a moving swing plate add-on, capable of simulating uphill, downhill, and sidehill lies with up to 5 degrees of incline. The swing plate can also be toggled off but will match the courses’ topographical data when active.
  • Other Systems: GolfZon is the only other simulator on the market with moving swing plate technology, however it runs on hydraulics and can require expensive maintenance in comparison to electric motors.

Auto Tee

  • Golf VX: Has auto tee which will load a new ball as soon as the previous shot is complete. This saves time and eliminates the need to walk, pick up and place a new ball which can waste 20-30% of a player’s time in a golf simulator.
  • Other Systems: Do not typically have auto tee meaning wasted time picking up and placing the ball. Two other companies do offer it though the technology is not as efficient and prone to ball jams.

Swing Camera

  • Golf VX: Includes 3 swing cameras (1 down-the-line and 2 face-on for lefties and righties), allowing comprehensive analysis from all angles after each swing and better biomechanical data for our AI Swing Analysis.
  • Other Systems: Offer different packages to add cameras on and do manual or swing analysis by sight. Most of these are low resolution and do not have the full ability to capture the speed and sequencing of a golf swing.

Touch Pad

  • Golf VX: Includes two touchpads engineered to be tapped with a club, allowing you to change shots, use the caddie, and access other features seamlessly without having to walk over and use the monitor.
  • Other Systems: Do not usually have a keypad included meaning more lost time from monitor aiming and adjustment. The two companies who do offer a touch keypad did not engineer them for golf clubs which can cause potential damage.

Key Takeaways

  • Versatility and Realism: The Golf VX simulator stands out for its versatile 3-way hitting surface, moving swing plate, and comprehensive swing camera and AI setup, providing a realistic and immersive golfing experience.
  • Other systems, such as FullSwing, Foresight, Trackman, and Uneekor, offer fewer hitting surface options, lack a moving swing plate, and only offer low-quality or non-AI Enabled cameras.
  • Convenience and Technology Integration: Golf VX features an automatic tee system, a touchscreen console, and dual touchpads, enhancing convenience and user interaction. Competing systems like GolfZon, FullSwing, Foresight, Trackman, and Uneekor often lack these integrated features, which can streamline the player experience.
  • Flexibility and Comprehensive Features: Golf VX allows hitting from any spot on the mat and several other must-haves to ensure maximum flexibility. While other systems may offer various hitting zone areas and ball requirements, Golf VX’s flexibility and additional features like the auto-tee and extensive camera setup offer a more complete and adaptable solution for in-home golf simulation.
